Lindsay J. Seilheimer, D.V.M.
Dr Lindsay Seilheimer is delighted to be a part of Roscoe Village Animal Hospital. It was her lifelong dream to become a veterinarian and she is dedicated to working with animals and improving their lives each day. Dr. Seilheimer earned her D.V.M. from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and her B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana / Champaign.
For Lindsay, caring for animals is not just a job, it’s a lifestyle. She has two cats, Clea and Vella, both of whom were strays who worked their way into her home, and she also has a horse which she has had since she was 11 years old. Lindsay loves dogs too, but hasn’t room for one in her current apartment. Dr. Seilheimer looks forward to meeting new clients and patients and establishing long and healthy relationships with them.
Michele Gaspar, DVM, DABVP (feline)
Dr. Michele Gaspar is a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, and is one of only a handful of certified feline specialists in the world. She was a student of advanced acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine/herbal medicine at the Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida. Dr. Gaspar received her certification in veterinary acupuncture from Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000 and is a 1994 graduate of the University of Wisconsin’s School of Veterinary Medicine. She was inducted into Phi Zeta, the veterinary medical honor society, in 1993. She is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association and the International Academy of Veterinary Pain Management. Since 2003, Dr. Gaspar has served as a consultant in Feline Internal Medicine on the Veterinary Information Network (VIN). As such, she helps veterinarians world-wide solve some of their most challenging cases with their feline patients and is frequently interviewed by local and national media.
Dr. Gaspar has lectured regionally, nationally and internationally on feline internal medicine issues. She has particular interests in feline gastrointestinal diseases, diabetes management, chronic urinary tract disorders (including kidney disease management), infectious diseases and bone marrow disorders, as well as healthy feline lifestyles and nutrition for cats. At present, Dr. Gaspar is writing a chapter entitled "Alternative Medicine in Feline Practice" for “Consultations in Feline Internal Medicine”, Volume 6 (2009), a definitive textbook for veterinarians on advances in feline medicine and surgery. Dr. Gaspar lives in Chicago’s Forest Glen neighborhood with her husband, five cats (Ginger, Albert, Mikey, Emmy and Gwen), four basset hounds (Daphne, Theodore, Milton and Julia) and a 75-gallon tank of "engaging" freshwater fish. As she says, "In our house, the cats rule and the bassets drool!"
Jessica Miller, DVM
Dr. Jessica Miller comes to us at Roscoe Village returning to the Chicago area after nearly 10 years out west. A 2007 graduate of Colorado State University Vet School she is excited to be back in the Windy City close to friends and family after growing up in the Northwest Suburbs. Dr. Miller has a passion for educating the public on animal and veterinary issues. Prior to veterinary school she volunteered at the Shedd Aquarium and worked at the Denver Zoo as an Education Department intern, training and performing with the Zoo’s free-flighted raptors and sea lions. You can now occasionally catch her on NBC 5 on Sat mornings as a spokeswoman for the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Miller has a strong interest in internal medicine and surgery, as well as learning more about how holistic therapies can be incorporated into modern Western medicine. For her, veterinary medicine is a lifelong endeavor and challenge. She is an avid believer in the human-animal bond, and hopes she can continue to balance the quality medicine she offers with the compassion every animal deserves. She shares her condo with her 2 adopted cats, Sita and Flower, who make her smile every day.
